Our News

By "swimming", I mean jumping in for less than three seconds because the water was so cold! It's common for Icelandic people to go swimming in the ocean, even though it's freezing.

What did I read this week?:

I am trying to read a book called Dóttir Hafsins, or Daughter of the Sea, in Icelandic. It's taking me a really long time, but I'm enjoying learning the language a little bit as I go along.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

I played the card game Go Fish this week, which is called Veiðimaður in Icelandic. It means hunter or fisherman, rather than "go fish".

Other news from this week:

Last week was New Year's Eve, and Iceland puts off a huge firework display at midnight to welcome in the new year. This big annual firework sale raises money for the Icelandic Search and Rescue Team, which is an extremely important charity in Iceland.
