It's (Almost) Always Sunny in India!

Also sometimes during summer when it gets very hot and there is very little rain, there can be droughts. Drought means there is lack of water as there is no rain and its is extremely hot. Droughts can make it difficult for people to grow crops.

How have people been adapting to this environment?:

Since India receives large amounts of rain during some months of the year, farmers grow crops that require lots of water during those months. Rice is a commonly grown crop. Indian people have adapted to this kind of living by eating a rice-based diet. In addition, some farmers have adapted to the variable rain during the year by designing their fields with drainage canals. These canals help water drain off of their farmland quickly in the monsoon season. Plus, the canals can bring water to their fields during winter and summer when there is very little rain. These measures mean they can grow food more easily throughout the year.

The clothing that is typically worn in India is another way people have adapted to the hot climate. Most people wear clothing made of lightweight fabric. These clothes protect their skin from the sun without being too hot.

Finally, there are systems in place to warn people about heavy rainfall and floods. When people are warned about the bad weather they can take steps to prepare and protect themselves.
