It's (Almost) Always Sunny in India!

What parts of this environment help people to live here?:

The climate and weather in India strongly affects how people live. For example, the heavy rains during the monsoon season help farmers grow crops that need a lot of water. If the monsoon season arrives too late or too early, then all the rice crops could be ruined. Since half of India’s population is employed in agriculture, the rain and its timing are very important.

Warm weather also help people to live in India. The warm weather year-round means that farmers can grow crops all year. Outside the monsoon season they might have to provide water to their crops, since it rarely rains during dry seasons. The warm weather and lack of rain during most of the year means people in India don’t have to worry about snow or ice. They can use and enjoy open-air methods of transportation like autos and motorcycles without any worry.

What challenges do people face living in this environment?:

The monsoon season can cause many problems for people in India. Heavy rains can cause landslides and floods. These can destroy people’s homes and make travel very difficult. Floods are especially bad, as they often ruin crops and can sometimes kill people. Tropical cyclones are another common challenge people face in India. Cyclones are very bad storms that start in the oceans. They cause heavy rain and wind near coastal regions of India. These cyclones can destroy buildings and cause floods just like the monsoon rains.

Another challenge that people face is very high temperatures during the summers, temperatures as high as 122 degrees Fahrenheit. Such high temperatures can cause overheating and possibly death too.
