Have you ever tried clam chowder in a bread bowl? Delicious, right? Here is the Vietnamese take on soup in an edible bowl. Let me tell you, it’s really good!
Bí hải sản is not a very common dish in Vietnam, but it’s quickly become one of my favorites. The meal consists of a medium-sized pumpkin filled with a fish-based stew that has a lot of carrots, onions, cilantro, baby corn, prunes, beans, squid, shrimp and other sea creatures. People typically enjoy it with a group of friends, because it’s way too much food for just one person to eat!
I felt so happy when I tried the soup because it’s so delicious and I was surrounded by friends. By chance, I met the owner of a restaurant that serves bí hải sản, and she invited me and a few other teachers from my university to dine with her family. I met her son, Minh, and together we enjoyed their signature dish. They are so proud of the delightful food they make!
