An Interview with 6th Graders in Taiwan

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

"My dad drives me to school everyday, but I’m also able to walk to school."

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

"I eat lunch in my class with the other students. My favorite foods are fried chicken and chocolate cake."

What language do you speak at school? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

"I speak Chinese at school and at home. To say “Hello,” you say 你好 (ni hao)."

What are some common kids' names at your school?:

"Common surnames are 林 (Lin), 陳 (Chen), and 潘 (Pan). Common first names are 雅琪 (Yaqi) and 怡君 (Yijun)."

What subjects do you study in school, and which one is your favorite?:

"I study a lot of subjects in school. We study math, Chinese, science, English, volleyball club, art, music, social studies and technology. My favorite classes are English class and P.E. class."

What is your homework like?:

"I have a lot of homework. I have the most homework in my math and Chinese class."

What do you like to do after school? Do you have a favorite sport or game?:

"I like to play volleyball, play with my dog, watch TV or play videogames on my switch."

Who is your favorite famous person?:

"I like the members of Black Pink - Jennie, Lalisa, Jisoo, and Rosé."

"I like Kobe."

"I like Jenna Marie Ortega."

What kinds of music do you listen to?:

"I like classical music, such as Beethoven."

"I like Blackpink and BTS."
