Travel News

How far did I travel this week?:

I started in Kobe and went south to Hiroshima for the day (200 miles). I then traveled back to Kobe for the night (200 miles). Then, I went to Tokyo for the rest of the week (333 miles) until going back to our ship in Kobe (333 miles). While we were in Tokyo, we traveled to different districts a few times for our hotel, to see different temples and to explore (50 miles). My total distance traveled within one week was approximately 1,116 miles. Since we traveled by subway and train, it did not take as long as it would in the United States!

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

To get from San Diego, California to Kobe, Japan, it took 18 days at sea to travel over 5,000 nautical miles!

How did I get around this week?:

I used eight taxis, over a dozen subways and rode the train four times!

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

I went to the Atomic Bomb Museum and Memorial in Hiroshima.  It felt unreal to have the opportunity of an in-depth experience of something that I have learned about throughout school. There were remnants in the museum of what was left after the explosion, but that only showed how little was left after the bombing. It was an eye-opening experience. If you are interested, I have posted photos in my Japan album.
