Because Ibiza attracts an international crowd, you can hear many languages spoken here. During my four days here, I heard people speaking in English, Chinese, French, Spanish and Dutch. However, like Barcelona, the official language in Ibiza is Catalan!
Ibiza makes up one of the Balearic Islands, in addition to Mallorca, and Menorca. All of these islands form a part of Spain. So, like Spain, euros are used in Ibiza!
On islands, things are usually a lot more expensive. This is because a lot of things must be flown into the island, just like we flew in on a plane! While the supermarkets were only slightly more expensive than those in Barcelona, other places can be much more expensive! For example, when my friends and I went out to dance one night, we were shocked to see that the water cost €12!
During one night of our vacation, our friends and I decided to cook homemade paella. If you remember from the “Buen Provecho!” article, paella is a rice dish that originated in Valencia, but is very popular throughout all of Catalunya. Paella can come made a number of different ways.
