These Feet Were Made for Walking and...

Introduction:

Barcelona is a fairly large city, with a population of 1.7 million people. Of course, this number is even bigger if you count all of the tourists who visit the city. In fact, it is estimated that 32 million people visit Barcelona each year! So, how do all these people remain connected? How do people travel to school and to visit their friends and family? Do you think there are any similarities to how you travel on a daily basis?

How do people get around?:

In Barcelona, just like in many other cities (like Portland, OR), people get around using cars, bikes, buses and of course lots of walking! One thing I especially love about Barcelona is that the public transportation system is very well-connected. It includes such services as the bus and the underground subway, or metro. I use both of these nearly every day to get to my lab at the university.

It is especially convenient for me because, being joven (young), I can buy a discounted ticket called a T-Joven that allows me unlimited public transport for three months. One difference between Tualatin, OR and Barcelona, Spain is that, in Barcelona, many more people travel around in motorcycle, or moto.
