Bueno Provecho!

Introduction:

Spain is well-known for its wide variety of delicious dishes. From Bilbao, to Madrid, to Barcelona, the Spanish are well-known for such dishes as patatas bravas (potatoes with a special sauce), jamón ibérico (Iberian ham), and churros con chocolate.

However, each region of Spain is also famous for its own specialties. For example, here in Barcelona, the Mediterranean diet is commonly followed by most people. This means that dishes often include olive oil, vegetables such as tomatoes, and seafood. How might these ingredients be connected to the city's location?

Some of the most popular dishes in Barcelona include pan con tomate (bread with tomato and olive oil spread on top) and paella (a fried rice dish with vegetables, seafood, or meat mixed in). Be warned, though! While paella is a very popular dish in Barcelona, it was actually invented in the neighboring city of Valencia – and the Valencianos are very proud of this fact!

What food did I try?:

In the time that I’ve been in Spain, I’ve been trying to discover as many foods as possible. In fact, eating new foods is one of my favorite hobbies! Do you like to try new foods?

One of the most memorable dishes that I’ve tried would have to be pulpo, or octopus.
