Ecuador Keeps the Trash Moving

Introduction:

It is very interesting to see how much an entire country works together to take care of their environment and animals. With trash cans on every side of the street, daily collections and limited use of tissue in public restrooms, Ecuadorians are always learning how to keep trash from polluting their town.

What community need did I learn about?:

Ecuador has cities that are both near the coast and near the land of mountains and rainforests. Both types of cities have beautiful plant life and animal life that they want to keep safe. Coastal cities works to keep trash off of the streets and out of the water as much as possible. They have a need to keep their water free from pollution. In the mountains and rainforest, water safety is not the biggest issue. They have a greater focus on protecting the many animals and the land needed to feed the animals.

Why does the community have this need?:

Ecuador can sometimes have seasons of heavy rains that lead to high floods on the coast. This type of weather has destroyed homes in the past. The coastal city of Guayaquil has the largest population in the country and the many people here can cause loads of trash in the streets. This only makes the flooding worse. Also, the ocean has to be kept clean because it provides a lot of food for their life.
