I visited Ghana's Permaculture Institution were I saw how people can thrive off the natural resources in Ghana. The people who work here produce very minimal waste by re-using as much as they can!
The climate in Ghana is tropical and the year is divided into a wet season and a dry season. It is hot, humid and quite dusty all year round. The wet season consists of rain with lightning and thunder storms almost everyday while the dry season does not. This country is also home to almost 30 million people.
The environment provides in almost every way imaginable. People use wood from trees and mud from the earth to create homes for themselves. The soil is very fertile so I was able to see mangos, mushrooms, and cashews growing in this area. The sense of community is also important and it enables groups of people to work together and reach a common goal such as, reducing waste.
