Field Note - Environment

Every place has a unique environment that affects how people live. In this section, students join travelers in the field to understand the geography of a new region and comprehend the local environment shapes daily life.

When travelers share information about the impact of physical geography on human geography, students can begin to make connections to their own local environments. Does the local natural environment affect your students’ way of life in their village, town, or city? By exploring a global context with their traveler, students will be able to make global-to-local connections and deepen their critical thinking.

Your traveler will answer these questions:

What makes this environment special or different?

What parts of this environment help people to live here?

What challenges do people face living in this environment?
