Our News

What main languages are spoken here?:

German and a fair amount of French are spoken here. Do you know other places where you can often hear more than one language spoken?

What type of money is used here?:

Euros! Also a fun sidenote, people here use more cash than they do credit cards. It is kind of unusual to pay with credit cards here, unless you are buying something expensive.

How much does a bottle of water cost?:

A bottle of water costs less than a euro. I always worry about the environment when I see so many people daily buying plastic water bottles, but it is very hard to find public fountains where you can fill up water bottles so I can understand why they are not used as much as in the U.S..

What was the best meal this week?:

My best meal this week was at Vapiano's, a German restaurant that serves italian food. The restaurant runs on a self-serve basis. When you come in, you are handed a card (similar to a credit card). You can put your belongings down at a table and then go over to the food section where you can choose from three lines: pizza, pasta or salad. At each station you will wait in line (and reflect on what you want to order from the menu), and then when it is your turn, you tell the chef what you would like (I ordered Pesto Basilico pasta) and they will make it in front of you. You have the option of getting a drink as well.
