The weather in Santiago this week was fairly cool. This time of year it is winter in the Southern Hemisphere. In fact, we are so far into this season that the first signs of spring are starting to appear—the trees are blooming and the days are becoming longer. It is strange that the weather here is different to where I am from in the United States, but I do enjoy the cool days in Santiago. And since it is winter, here, the sun has an important responsibility to warm everyone! On cloudy days it is much colder.
This week I saw some animals. In Santiago, you can see a lot of pigeons looking for crumbs left behind by people. I have also traveled to other places in Chile where I have seen a fox, seagulls, and lots of street dogs. In Chile, there are a lot of dogs without homes, so they sleep in the street at night and wander around the city all day.
