






The main language in Chile is Spanish. There are also some native languages that are spoken by the native people of Chile. Some other native languages were not used, so they became extinct. People also speak English, especially in the touristic places.
In Chile, they use the Chilean Peso. $1,000.00 Chilean Peso equals $1.38 in U.S. Dollars.
A bottle of water is about $700.00 Chilean Pesos or $1.00 U.S. Dollar. It is a little cheaper to buy food and drinks in Chile than it is in most of the United States.
The best meal I had this week was at a barbeque we had to celebrate Chile’s Independence Day. We cooked pork over a fire and ate it with salad, potatoes and vegetables.
This week I listened to a lot of traditional Chilean music since everyone was in the mood to celebrate. The music is called cueca, and there is a special dance to accompany the music.
