Travel News

How far did I travel this week?:

I did not go too far this week, choosing to stay in Cape Town. I did, however, travel to the beach, which is about 30 minutes away. Aside from the beach, I went from my apartment to class each day, as well as to a few restaurants in the area.

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

To get here, I flew about 8,800 miles from Minneapolis to Cape Town! Since arriving, I took a 200 mile trip to Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of Africa. I'm looking forward to continuing to travel further over here during spring break!

How did I get around this week?:

To get around I took Jammie shuttles on campus and Ubers to get around the city. I also walked to places that were close by. I really enjoy taking walks, but the city has many steep hills to climb over that making walking all of the time pretty exhausting!

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

I went with other American students on a tour of District 6, which is an area of Cape Town where many people were displaced from during Apartheid. I learned so much on this tour about the different neighborhoods of Cape Town and how the history of the city has shaped the present.

Other Travel News from this week:

I went swimming in a tidal pool on a local beach!
