Environment: Sun, Spiders and Sustainability

Introduction:

I've been in Sydney for two weeks now and I've really enjoyed it so far! Even though it's summer here, there's a really nice breeze and not a lot of humidity. Some of the aspects of their environment create a lot of fun, like snowboarding and surfing. However, some of it can cause serious problems.

What makes this environment special or different?:

Sydney has a unique enviroment because of its mixture of urban areas and coastal scenes. The city is  separated by a river and is surrounded by water on the east. As such, there are many famous beaches, like Bondi and Coogee. The Blue Mountains are a short train ride to the edge of the city, and they get very snowy in the winter! Most of the city, however, has a very temperate climate. Additionally, the UV exposure from the sun is higher here because of the country's literal proximity to the sun.

What parts of this environment help people to live here?:

Thanks to the temperate climate, Sydneysiders (the residents) are able to spend a lot of time outside. The variety of water bodies helps people have clean water year-round. The easy access to water also provides easier trading opportunities. That being said, Australia is still fairly isolated, so trading ships can take a long time to get here.
