Travel News

How far did I travel this week?:

I traveled an average of six miles each day. There are many hills in Seoul. If I were to compare it to an American city, I would say it's a mixture of both San Fransico and New York City, carrying the aspects of endless steep hills and metropolitan shopping areas with flashing billboards. On March 1, I traveled 10.5 miles by walking and using public transportation.

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

So far on this journey, I have traveled all over the main parts of the city of Seoul. I visited Hongdae, Itaewon, Myeongdong, Gangnam and Dongdaemun. My host University is in Dongdaemun which is located in the downtown area of Seoul. Funny, my home university in San Jose is also located downtown! The places that I frequently travel to are Hongdae and Myeongdong because they are the best places to go shopping for warm and stylish clothes. I need to go shopping because I only packed one suitcase for four months of studying abroad! In total walking distance on this journey, I walked about 66.1 miles so far! My original flight from the U.S. to Seoul was 6,000 miles.

How did I get around this week?:

The three modes of transportation that I used were walking, subway and bus. I used the subway the most. To pay for transportation, I use a card called T-money where I can scan my way onto public transportation in a quick and efficient matter.
