Exploring Food All Over Taiwan!

Earlier this week, I went with two of my friends to dinner at a nice restaurant to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant had great food, and we really enjoyed it. I decided to try a pasta dish with duck. I usually would not eat duck, but I thought I should give it a try.

This week, I also had "hot pot". Hot pot is very popular in Taiwan. When you eat hot pot at a restaurant, you start by picking a soup broth. Usually, your choices are either spicy or non-spicy. I don't like spicy food very much, so I chose the non-spicy option...  though if you do like spicy food, there is a lot of spicy food here that is very popular! Then, you get to choose all kinds of ingredients that go into the pot. I chose beef, and then a lot of different vegetables. I chose potatoes, eggplant, broccoli, green beans, corn and cabbage.

On another day, my friends and I went out for breakfast! At breakfast, I got scallion pancakes, which are also very popular here, along with toast with blueberry jam.

Earlier, I tried stinky tofu as well. The smell was definitely strong! I was not a big fan, but I'm glad I tried it.

Lastly, I went out for dinner with a couple friends over the weekend. At this restaurant, I got a hot pork dish. It came with noodles, egg and pork with a curry sauce on top. These were many of the great foods I've gotten to try here so far!

How did I feel when I tried it?:

The duck pasta dish was delicious! I thought it was very tasty, and I thought it tasted similar to beef, but a little softer. I liked it much more than I thought I would. It was a small plate, though, so I was still a little hungry after.

I also loved hot pot! I really liked it because I got to choose all of my own ingredients.
