Shrines and Temples

The historical value that these locations hold are physical reminders of the Japanese culture and also provide opportunities to relax your mind and relieve stress in a peaceful environment. Today, many use these places to gain luck and good fortune, while others go for the experience and history.

Is this tradition connected to its environment? How?:

Yes. Historically, the Japanese believed that every god associated with the Shinto religion held authority over a certain part of the environment and economy. For example, Fukujuinari-jinja was worshipped as the god of rice and food cultivation as well as business success. I believe this encouraged the people to work hard and maintain hope during harsh circumstances. Today, shrines and temples continue to share this history while boosting the economy with the offering basins and gift shops.
