Hi everyone!
It's crazy that yesterday was our final video call! I can't believe I have been living in France for 8 months now and have now finished my first year of my Master's. The past few months, I have travelled to 4 different countries, been skiing in fresh powder in the French Alps, dug a snow pit at Col de Lauterat, played in an orchestra, seen the Eiffel Tower at night, met new friends, and eaten lots of really good bread and cheese!
But what is even cooler is that my journey isn't over yet. I will now be starting my internship at Meteo France, where I will be using satellite data and images to better track and understand snow cover pack, which can help for avalanche prevention. Then I'll get a little break back home in Steamboat before completing my second year of my Master's back here in Grenoble. Who knows what cool things I will get to do next year?
Just last week, I was able to travel to Rome, Florence, and Venice in Italy! I got to see the Grand Forum and the Colosseum. It was wild to be standing in a place that was the founding of modern society today. There was so much history that took place where I was standing, and there I was over 2,000 years later, taking a selfie! I even got to travel to Venice and experience what life is like by boat.
