For the past month, I've had amazing weather in my community. Warm and sunny, and not a drop of rain. These past couple of days, though, clouds have started to gather, and it drizzled for a few hours of the day. Here's a fun fact: here in Costa Rica, people have all sorts of different phrases to describe different kinds of rain. For instance, for a light-drizzly rain, Costa Ricans call it pelo de gato (cat hair!).
Costa Rica only has two seasons in a year, rainy and dry, unlike the United States. The rainy season spans May - November, and the dry season December - April. We’re just about finished with the dry season!
This past week I saw a snake… in my house! I had never seen a snake like this before in my life. It was red and black, with thin white stripes. I spent about 20 minutes trying to push it out of the house with a broom, but it kept hiding in little nooks and crannies where I couldn’t reach it. Eventually it slithered into a hole in the wall.
I looked up the snake on the internet later using the photo I had taken.
