Buyt if you want to buy a normal, Poland Spring-sized bottle of water like the kind they sell in New York delis, you’ll pay about CRC 1000 ($2).
My host family and I spent a good part of Sunday fishing in the tilapia basin outside of our house. We didn’t catch much, and the fish we did catch were tiny (about the size of my palm). We then fried up what we caught and served it with a side of rice and beans. I think the fact that we had to work extra hard for the food made this meal all the more satisfying!
I love all sorts of music but mainly electronic. Recently though, I've been listening to loads of French music.
This week I went for a short hike up the hill behind my house. It’s only about a 15 minute walk, but boy is it tough! It’s a steep hill filled with tall weeds that grab at your ankles and make you trip and fall. My host mom always makes me bring a machete to cut through the thicker weeds.
As difficult as it is though, the view at the top makes it all worth it. From there you can see all of my town, La Paz, and even some nearby cities.
This week I just finished a book called The Trial by Franz Kafkha. It’s about a man in Europe who is suddenly accused of a crime by a complicated and mysterious court. The book follows his journey of fighting his case and his efforts to understand the system that’s trying to convict him.
