The main languages that are spoken in Barcelona are Catalan and Spanish. Catalan is the language of Catalonia, which is a region in Spain. Catalonia used to be its own country, but after several wars, it joined with Spain; however, the region has kept some of its own languages and traditions.
Spain is also part of the European Union (EU). This means that Spain uses the euro, just like Germany. It was nice that I did not have to exchange money between Germany and Spain. Traveling was much easier, too.
Just like in Germany, a bottle of water costs 0.25 euro. As I mentioned before, it is very popular in Europe to drink sparkling water. I don’t like sparkling water, so I have to ask for agua sin gas (water without gas). Do you think you would like sparkling water or still water?
The best meal that I had this week was with my friend, Emily. We ate breakfast in a small café in Madrid. We had café con leche y croissants de chocolate (coffee with milk and chocolate croissants). The croissants were fresh out of the oven and so delicious! They were fluffy and sweet-I would say it was the best pastry that I’ve ever had!
