The weather in Barcelona and Madrid was sunny and in the high 50s to low 60s–this was much warmer than the below-freezing temperatures in Berlin. I was very happy to get away from the cold and enjoy the outdoors.
My favorite animal that I saw in Barcelona is called the monk parakeet. They are little green parrots that are seen about as frequently as pigeons in Barcelona. Some of the parakeets have tags around their necks–this is because scientists are studying the birds to see how they migrate throughout the city and the rest of Spain. I also found out that they are called “monk” parakeets because their green feathers look like they are wearing a robe compared to the rest of their gray-colored body.
