Getting Around a Country the Size of Maryland

Introduction:

In this post, you'll learn about biking, driving, biking, bussing, biking, taking the train, biking, walking, and biking. Did I mention biking? Well, just in case you guys did not guess already, the main way people get around is by bicycle! The Dutch bike to work, the grocery store, their friends' house, school, stores, everywhere!

Besides biking there is also a great public transportation system, so not many people drive. There are bus stops all over town and each bus has a number on the front, so you can look up the route for each number while trying to figre out if it will take you to your destination. It's really simple once you get used to it!

If you want to travel from one city to another, it is too far to bike or use the bus so you have to take the train. Trains from Nijmegen station run twice every hour and go to all major Dutch cities. If you can not find a train that goes straight from Nijmegen to the city you want to visit you have to switch trains. So instead of being able to go straight from A to C, you have to go from A to B then take another train from B to C. It takes a little longer, but is easy enough if you look up the train you need before you arrive at the station!

How do people get around?:
