Living like the Dutch

Introduction:

Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing well. This week I interviewed a native Dutch person to give you all some insight into their daily life. Throughout the interview I found it amazing that even though Dutch and American people live halfway around the world from one another, we have so many similarities. What do you all think? Do you and your family have more similarities than differences with this Dutch family?

What is your full name?:

Hi, my full name is Iris Verbeek. In Duch, the name Iris is pronounced "Ear-is" not "Eye-ris" so my full name is pronounced "Ear-is Ver-beak".

Where do you live? What is your house like?:

I live in the south-west of Nijmegen. My husband and I picked a house in the south-west because it is farther from the main heart of the city. My house is two stories tall and has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The first bathroom is on the first floor and it is just a room with a toilet. In The Netherlands, it is very common for houses to have separate bathrooms for the toilet and the shower. We have a nice garden in front of our house and a garage separating our house from our neighbor's.

What is your family like?:

I have a husband and one daughter named Lieke. My husband has to get up very early in the morning because he delivers the morning mail.
