How did I feel when I tried it?:

The 칼국수 (Kalguksu) was amazing and it was my first time trying homemade noodles. They were very tender and mild tasting. I was nervous to try the small octopus because it was completely whole but I wanted to experience something new that was not common in America... It was very chewy and slightly fishy. I probably wouldn't eat it again but I'm glad I tried it!

At the work dinner, the raw fish was yummy but very chewy. One type of raw fish still contained the bones but they were small and soft enough so you could eat it! I was afraid to eat the live octopus but my coworkers really wanted me to try it since we don't have anything like it in America. I heard that the suckers on the tentacles can get stuck to your tongue so I was nervous, but it was completely fine! You just have to make sure to chew it very well. It didn't taste strange, other than being slightly chewy and slimy. It was really yummy and I ate a lot more of it. Often your fears are not the same as reality so it's important to try things that you are afraid of!

How is the food prepared?:

The 칼국수 (Kalguksu) was cooked right at our table on a small burner which is a special experience and very common in South Korea. I feel like that helps make the food extra fresh. After you finish the noodles, people will order rice or ramen to cook in the extra broth. Yum!

The hwe was either eaten by itself or wrapped in lettuce or perilla leaves.
