I traveled three hours by bus with my classmates to Vientiane, Laos.
I have traveled over 10,500 miles so far.
My most-used form of transportation was a mini wagon-bus called a tuk-tuk. It's similar to tourist bike wagons, called pedicabs or rickshaws, like the ones in Central Park or on busy beaches. Some are powered by men pedaling and others are machine-powered, like cars. This form of transportation is very affordable and Laos doesn't have a ride-share system like Uber, so taking tuk-tuks was better than walking everywhere.
The Cooperative Orthotic and Prosthetic Enterprise (COPE) center, which treats Laotians with physical disabilities, was very interesting and informative, although it was also sad. There was a movie and an exhibition showing different prosthetic limbs and the stories of some of their patients. Read more about the COPE center in the "Our News" section!
