This past Sunday, I saw one owner at the park with their brown Labradoodle, who was playing fetch with a green tennis ball. Then along came another dog owner with a black Labradoodle that quickly ran to the brown Labradoodle since it was on no leash. This caught me off guard, because they were both bigger dogs and they were not aggressive at all, they just wanted to play with one another. Then a few minutes later I saw I tiny pug run towards the bigger dogs to join the play date, and then a Chihuaha. All kinds of different dog breeds joined together to play ball with their owners. It felt like the dogs understood each other and were so friendly, welcoming and respectful to one another.
In Madrid, a lot of people mainly live in apartments and they own dogs. I've noticed that dogs here don't bark at strangers and are very calm and kind. I think it's because they are used to sharing spaces with strangers and are not as territorial. I normally am very scared of dogs unleashed, because I'm scared of getting chased or bitten by a dog. When I was in midle school, I would walk home and had to pass by one house with four big dogs and they would always bark at me, and it would scare me. In comparison, the dogs in Madrid are so calm and friendly, even with each other! I love to find the same breed of dogs from back home here in Madrid, like pugs and German shepherds!
One of the coolest things I saw was a bat! I was so suprised because I have never seen a bat and did not know that they even existed in Spain. However, I was at El Retiro Park with my friend Gwydion, who quickly recognized it!
