Madrid is a city with lots of different cultures. There are many European and Latin American influences. Continue reading to learn about the influences of different cultures on Madrid's food as I share my experience eating Cuban food in the city.
I tried fricase de pollo con arroz congrí (stewed chicken with black bean rice). It is a typical Cuban dish. I also ordered a passion fruit smoothie to drink with it. I ate my meal at a restaurant called "La Negra Tomasa."
I felt very happy when I tried this dish! Rice and chicken is one of my favorite meals. I eat it all the time when I'm at home with my family in Connecticut. When I eat it here in Spain, it reminds me of home. When I visited the restaurant for the first time, there was a live band playing salsa music. I really enjoyed hearing the music while I was eating. We don't always have performances at restaurants in the U.S., so I thought it was really cool to have that experience here in Madrid.
