My best meal this week was fresh fish from the market! There is a big seafood market in my town because there are lots of fishermen. You can go to the market and talk to the fishermen to find out what they have caught that day. After you have picked out the fish you want to buy the fisherman takes it to a special table in the market to clean the fish. Once the fish has been cleaned you can take it home and cook it however you want! I bought a big snapper fish in the market and had a bbq with my friends on Sunday.
On Sunday night I watched a live band perform in town. They played a lot of songs in Portuguese and some songs in Guitonga. They described their music as "Afrobeat" music. It is very good music to dance to and I have noticed that lots of Mozambicans are incredible dancers!
My favorite activity this week was going to an educational talk on manta rays! Every week the organization I work with here in Mozambique gives educational talks on the animals that live in the ocean around our town. I do not know much about manta rays so I was very excited to learn new facts about a very cool animal. Tofo, Mozambique is the only place in the entire world where divers can see reef mantas and giant mantas in the same place! I am very hopeful that I will get to see a manta ray before I leave.
