






Although many people speak French, there are over 25 regional languages spoken in France. The second most common language in France is Maghrebi Arabic. France is home to many immigrants from North African countries like Algeria, Morocco, Libya and Tunisia, where Maghrebi Arabic is the main language.
France uses the euro. France is part of a group of countries called the European Union. Currently there are 28 countries in this group. Most of the countries all use the same type of money, the euro.
A small bottle of water costs 1.50 euros. The sign for the euro looks like this: €. In France and many European countries, a comma is used instead of a decimal point when writing numbers. So, in a store, the price looks like € 1,50.
The best meal this week was a plate of cheese that was served with delicious bread. France is well-known for its cheeses and has many different varieties. I shared this meal with two of my American friends who were visiting Paris from the US.
