While the primary language in my town is Italian, my university has students from all over the world! Four languages are commonly spoken on the bus to school or in our cafeteria: Italian, English, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and Arabic.
In Italy, we use the euro. This is the common currency across countries in the European Union.
Unfortunately, Italians are still very attached to drinking water from water bottles, so they are very common and very cheap. You can buy a 1.5-liter water bottle (1.6 quarts!) for €1.20.
This week, I ate ravioli stuffed with spinach and ricotta with butter and sage sauce. This is a very simple meal here in northern Italy, but because a friend prepared it, it made me feel very loved! I also got to attend an American dinner hosted by someone from Kansas City. She made fried pickles and homemade ranch! It was delicious and very nostalgic.
