New Zealand food

Introduction:

I have not been around to many restaurants around New Zealand because my host family really likes to cook, but they always have delicious food, so I do not feel like I am missing out.

What food did I try?:

The food my family made was lamb and vegetables. I had never tried or cooked lamb, so I learned quite a bit of information when I was helping. It took a while to cook because there was so much meat on it, but it was worth it.

How did I feel when I tried it?:

I could hardly stop eating the lamb after I tasted it. It tasted like a very tender steak, and it was one of the best meats I have ever had. There was also a lot of fat on the meat, so I had to pick that off, but it was well worth the work it took to get there.

How is the food prepared?:

My host mom put the lamb in the oven, and she kept putting a broth on the lamb to keep it from becoming dry. She left the lamb in the oven for several hours, and she also kept a thermometer in the lamb to keep track of the temperature of it.

Is this food connected to the local environment? How?:

Lamb is quite popular to eat in New Zealand. Some people were surprised when I say I had never had lamb because it is very common here. Though it is expensive to buy, it is worth the purchase because it is very tender and delicious when cooked properly.
