Student life in Germany

Introduction:

I am both a university student and a teaching assistant at a German high school. Welcome to my everyday life! It is many things, but dull is not one of them.

What is your full name?:

Marissa Schoedel is my name.

Where do you live? What is your house like?:

I live in a group apartment, known in Germany as a WG (short for Wohngemeinschaft or “group that lives together”). There are six other people in my WG. They are all very nice and come from many different countries. They all speak some combination of Russian, English and German.

What is your family like?:

My family is small. I am an only child. For that reason, my parents are coming to visit me in March.

How do you get around?:

I take the streetcar and bus but also ride my scooter and walk. I try to avoid taking the train whenever possible. The train is the most likely form of transport to have technical issues, plus it is very expensive in comparison to the other options I have available. Now that I have my student ID, I can ride the public transport at no additional cost.

What types of clothing do you like to wear?:

I try to dress more European, which essentially means wearing pants regardless of the season.
