The weather in Curacao is typically sunny, but it can also be hot! Thankfully, there is plenty of ocean to cool off in. Curacao is actually considered a desert island due to the lack of rain, but it is actually quite green, and filled with wildlife. The lack of runoff actually helps to protect pollutants on land from going out into the ocean and destroying the reef!
I always see my friends the bottlenosed dolphins! They squeak and sometimes swim with me in the ocean. More often, I don't realize they are outside of their pens, and they sneak up behind me while I am trying to take pictures or listen to fishes. Other animals I see is the Cubera Snapper! A mighty predator on the reef, but we call him Clyde. He's always curious about what we are doing and if there will be a free fish lunch. Some animals on land include flamingos, parokeets, iguanas and a small bird called a bananaquit.
