Travel News

How far did I travel this week?:

I traveled a total of 2 hours this week. I went to both the East side (Eastpunt) and the west side (Westpunt) of the island. Given the size of the island, I can do all these things without really having to drive far.

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

I mostly haven't had to travel very far from my current location. There is a lot to do right here in Bapor Kibrá, but it is nice to escape downtown in Willemstad and to the more solitary west side of the island.

How did I get around this week?:

I get around by car, usually rented or owned by a friend! I have bought a car, but I need to fix it, as it currently has no reverse! A lot of cars on the island have car problems because of the salt air and heat, both of which quickly rust away most vehicles.

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

The most interesting place I visited was the east side of the island. I had to gain special permission and was required to travel with a local fisherman. The whole east side of the island is private land and is, therefore, undeveloped. So, you can see wild donkeys in the fields, unexplored caves, and untouched dive sites in this part of the island.

I learned a new slang word to mean "cool", "awesome", or, in general,  that one is doing great!
