The main languages are Papiamentu at home. This language is actually a mix of all kinds of languages they learn in school, and represents the history of the locals. In school, children have to be fluent in Dutch. Many schools also require English, but some opt to take Spanish and Portuguese instead.
Luckily, stores around Curacao will accept US dollars ($), but their national curreny is Netherlands Antillean guilder, or also commonly called a florin. Many of the guilder bills have images of local flora and fauna on them, such as the 10 florin bill in my wallet, which depicts a hummingbird!
The cost of a (1.5 liter bottle) water in Curacao around 2$. I definitely needed one for my hike to go rock-climbing!
I had a coconut that was filled with a protein of my choice and a buffet style selection of rice, salad and a dessert chocolate cake. For the protein, I chose one of my favorites, shrimp!
