Alba's Life in Spain

Introduction:

Alba is a very smart, charming girl from a small city named Milladoiro just outside of Santiago, who I have the privilege of tutoring for a couple of hours every Thursday afternoon. We often read short stories in English and do listening activities in addition to talking and working on grammar. Alba's English is quite advanced for her age, and she is able to respond to basically any question I throw at her. She has been taking English lessons ever since she was five years-old; in addition to the two hours she spends with me on Thursdays, she has one hour of English on Monday and on Wednesday. Alba also takes French lessons on Fridays and does kickboxing two times per week. As you can see, she has a very busy life!

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

"For breakfast, I like to eat biscuits (cookies) with milk. I also usually have orange juice and a fruit piece, like a kiwi or banana. For lunch, my favorite dish is mussels. My favorite dinner is a French omelette."

She also added that, as is customary in Spain, she normally eats a large meal for lunch and a much lighter dish for dinner, often just a snack.

What is your house like?:

"My house is very small, with two bedrooms. It is always hot inside. It is small but comfy. I live on the second floor (in the U.S. it would be the 3rd floor) of a (apartment) building."
