Momo's life in Ndiaganiao

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

Momo walks to and from school every day, which takes twenty minutes. Sometimes he walks with friends or his sisters, but he often walks alone! His dream is to go to school riding a bike. 

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

Momo eats lunch at home with his siblings between 1 and 3pm, which is the rest hour for Senegalese people. Momo's favorite foods are bananas, spaghetti and chicken. 

What language do you speak at school? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

Momo speaks French at school, but he speaks Serrer at home. He also knows Wolof, and he's starting to learn English at school this year! Baldo means "hello" in Serrer. To respond, you say Fedediame.

What are some common kids' names at your school?:

Awa is the most popular girl's name. Muhammed, Issa, Modou, Salou and Abdou are the most popular boys' names. 

What subjects do you study in school, and which one is your favorite?:

Momo studies math, French, geography, history, English,and life skills. His favorite subject is math, and there are over fifty students in his class! His school uniform is a blue-collared shirt, but he's allowed to wear the shoes and pants of his choice. 

What is your homework like?:

Every night he has excercises in his notebook, which his teacher checks the next day. He learns about French grammar, and has to do math problems. Unlike American students, Senegalese students learn how to write in cursive!
