I love trying new food! I get many opportunities to try new and exciting foods as I move around Mongolia, and it's one of my favorite ways to explore the culture. Have you ever tried a Mongolian dish? Let me tell you about one of my favorites: khoshoor.
One new food I tried in Mongolia is called khoshoor. It is essentially deep-fried meat and dough. It is very simple, yet very delicious. Traditional Mongolian food is typically very simple and almost every food is prepared with meat. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of my Mongolian friends eat a meal that did not have meat in it.
I felt great when I tried khoshoor for the first time. I was in the countryside in a province named Ovs. The old woman who made it has probably been making khoshoor all her life. Her khoshoor was very fresh and delicious. The next day, I ate more khoshoor at the national Eagle Festival in a town called Olgii, but it was not as tasty as the khoshoor I ate in Ovs.
