My Autobiography

Location:
Havana, Cuba/ Naples, Florida/ Atlanta, Georgia
Journal Entry:

I wanted to begin by saying thank you so much for taking the time to read and share my journey with me. I was born in Havana, Cuba along with the rest of my family. I lived there until I was four years old. At age four, my family and I moved from Cuba to the United States in 2001. We settled in Miami, Florida. Two years later, we moved two hours north to Naples, Florida where I have lived ever since.

In 2015, I graduated from high school and moved to Atlanta, Georgia to start my college journey at Emory University. I am now a third-year student studying Human Health. I have a Health Innovation Concentration at the business school.

Human health is a public health-centered major. We look at how different factors such as race, gender, socioeconomic status and the environment each play a role in the health of a community. We try to figure out how we can improve community health. For my health innovation concentration, I also get to look at the health system through a business perspective. I learn about organization management and social entrepreneurship. Ask your teacher what those big words mean!

I am very passionate about public health! I would like to work in the field one day. After I graduate college, I hope to obtain my Master's in Public Health in Health Behavior & Education.
