It was back to hot and humid this week in Kaohsiung, with mostly clouds and a couple of quick showers interspersed through the week. Cool nights have turned into a warm blanket of heat and humidity, marking the start of summer. It only gets warmer and wetter from here, leaving me wondering, did we skip Spring?
Along with the warmer weather came increased sightings of wildlife in Kaohsiung, some of which were less than welcome – namely the rats and roaches that frequent the night. Taking a walk at night, you are likely to encounter scampering rats hopping into grates on the sidewalk or cockroaches the size of large walnuts scurrying past you at every street corner.
