






The sun's rays reflected off the clouds and mist below us, casting hazy streaks of light over the rolling hills. It was a magical sight, and standing above the clouds made me feel like I was on top of the world.
Here in the Canary Islands, we sometimes experience a weather phenomenon called calima. This happens when strong winds carry dust and sand from the Sahara Desert over to the islands. A few weeks ago, the calima was so intense that people were advised to wear masks outside or stay indoors. Early this week, I could still see a thin layer of dust settled on cars and windows.
