Trying a Typical German Snack: Schnitzel in a Double Bread Roll

Introduction:

I could smell the roasting meat from two blocks away. I was so cold, and it was such a delicious scent; as I  walked closer and closer to the golden glowing windows and the bright red sign of the shop, it felt like I was exactly where I was supposed to be. I have walked by this delicatessen at least twenty times before but have never gone inside, so today was an adventure!

What food did I try?:

Once inside the meat shop I tried Schweine-Schnitzel gegrillt (grilled pork cutlet) in a Doppelbrötchen (double bread roll), with Kraut Salat (cabbage salad).

How did I feel when I tried it?:

I was hesitant to try this sandwich at first because firstly, I did not really know what I was eating. Also, I do not usually eat very much meat, so I was even more unsure of what to expect. When I did bite into my meat sandwich, however, I was really pleased with the crunchy texture of the bread roll and the chewy but also crispy feel of the schnitzel. It was warm and whatever spices they used on the meat were incredible.

I felt more comfortable trying the cabbage salad because I have had something similar before; still, this was different to what I had been expecting. The cabbage nicely complimented my meat sandwich.
