Valencia and its Ocean Influence

Introduction:

Valencia is a city on the east coast of Spain. It is the capital city of the comunidad autónoma (autonomous community, similar to a state in the U.S.), also named Valencia. Valencia is a great mix of old and new. It has huge office buildings, an arts and science complex and museums with modern architecture. Alongside all of this are century-old churches, convents and plazas. Valencia has an extensive history, dating all the way back to its ancient Roman founding. Today, Valencia is known for its port, beaches, food and cultural events. It’s the third largest city in Spain (behind Madrid and Barcelona). I was super excited to explore!

What makes this environment special or different?:

Valencia is located on the eastern coast of Spain, right on the Balearic Sea. As a result, the city has always been influenced by the ocean. Valencia can trade easily with other nations and ports in Spain as a result of its easy access to the sea. Fishing has also been a huge source of economic income and has had a huge impact on the region's culture. The warm, sunny weather is also great for growing fruits - there were orange and lemon trees everywhere!
