I made some carrot cake which was my favorite meal this week. It is hard to grocery shop and bake in a foreign country. I often have to use Google Translate in the grocery stores - for example, the Finnish words for pepper and cloves are quite similar, but the spices themselves are not similar so it's important to buy the right one!
I listen to a lot of Broadway, Classical, Hip-Hop, Electric, and just recently, the Planet Earth II soundtrack when I'm studying! I used to listen to Finnish music because I thought it might help me adjust to the culture, but actually, when I am on the bus, I only listen to American music now. It reminds me of home and helps with the culture shock to listen to American music instead.
Just recently we got to ride the electric rental scooters after seeing the Northern Lights late at night. The night buses are hard to find so we rented electric scooters with our phones and got home quickly, but I was not expecting the scooters to be so fast or the night air to be so cold! Thankfully my roommate guided the way and we had quite a bit of fun!
I've been reading scientific articles on global health for school, but I have a few books from the library that I hope to read soon and if they're good, I'll be sure to share them.
