Our News

What main languages are spoken here?:

Because Forney is in Texas, we have mostly English speakers here. We do also have a solid community of Spanish speakers here as well, due in part to our proximity to Mexico. Lots of Texan cities are a blend between southern culture and Mexican culture. Some of our own students are first- or second-generation immigrants!

What type of money is used here?:

In Texas and all of America, we use both dollars and coins. The coins are small circular pieces of currency made out of metal. We have the penny, worth 1 cent, the nickel, worth 5 cents, the dime, worth 10 cents and the quarter, worth 25 cents. 100 of these cents amounts to one dollar. Dollars are units of currency made out of a paper-linen blend that come in increments of $1, $5, $10, $20, $50 or $100.  On occasion you'll even find the rare $2 bill! Most of our transactions exchange dollars for items. For example, getting a meal at a cheap fast food place would cost around $7 for a drink, fries and a burger. Money is very important in our society, as many people make a living off jobs involving money such as banking, insurance agents, economists, entrepreneurs and more!

How much does a bottle of water cost?:

A bottle of water at school goes for $1.25. An entire case of water can be bought from several local stores for less than $3, however.
