Berlin is a city that's known for having many different people from around the world that live there. Altogether, you can find someone from almost every country represented in Berlin. (I can't even name all of the countries represented!) German is the official language so, of course, you'll see and hear it everywhere. English, however, is extremely common to hear in Berlin, especially from American and British tourists. I also heard Turkish, Arabic, Portuguese, Spanish and Italian being spoken while I was there.
Euros are used in Germany.
Depending on where you buy it, a bottle of water can be from one to three euros.
Right after I arrived in the city, I met up with some of my friends from the United States and we went to get Vietnamese food together at a restaurant named SOY. This restaurant is very popular, especially because all of the food there is vegan, meaning that it has no animal products in it. Vietnamese and vegan foods, are very popular in Berlin. Many young people that live in Berlin have a vegan diet. I ordered noodle soup made with coconut milk to make it very creamy. The rice crackers on the side were absolutely delicious!
